Spectrum Radio Get Active Weekends
Sat 26/04/2008

The popular Chinese Show on Spectrum Radio is joining forces with GetActive.UK.com to promote Active Citizenship.

As part of the station's 18th anniversary celebration, the Chinese team will produce a series of weekend programmes to encourage active participation of listeners in the wider aspects of British life.

Spectrum Radio broadcasts from the heart of London to the Nation's capital and the South East of England on 558AM Medium Wave to a potential audience of over 13 million people since 1990. The station also broadcasts on DAB, on SKY channel 0185 and on the internet on 558.net.

With 1 in 3 of London's residents born outside the UK, Spectrum Radio is unique in the UK being the country's only ethnic commercial radio station: currently serving in excess of 24 international communities, providing a "gathering place" for the diverse cultural groups in the UK.

Spectrum's Chinese programme is the only daily Cantonese radio show in the UK. Broadcast at peak time, between 18:00-19:00, the Spectrum Radio Chinese Community Network is a brand new interactive service for the Chinese community. Check out their latest news and join in the discussions on the hottest topics on sccn.558.net.

The BC Register to Vote event forms part of the Get Active UK campaign 2008 – a collaboration between the BC Project, Confederation of Chinese Associations UK, the London Chinatown Chinese Association, Christine Lee and the CY (Chinese Youth) Radio Project to encourage active citizenship by the UK Chinese population.
